Quick answer

The best weightlifting shoes for women are the ones that fit your foot shape. Best overall: Nike Romaleos 4 (most stable; snug toe box, many owners size up half). Narrow feet: Inov-8 Fastlift Power G 380, sold in a true women’s version. Wide feet: TYR L-2. Budget: Adidas Powerlift 5. Most lifters are unisex, so convert your size with the brand’s chart.

Most lifting shoes are designed on a single last and sold as unisex, usually in men’s sizes. RunRepeat’s women’s guide puts it bluntly: plenty of women’s models are the men’s shoe made smaller and given new colors. For a lot of women that means a heel that slips or a midfoot that never quite locks in. So I’ve put fit first in this guide: which shoes come in women’s sizing, which run narrow, and which leave room for wider feet.

How to size women's weightlifting shoes

Start with the conversion. Unisex lifters are usually listed in men’s US sizes, and most brands put a women’s size 1.5 sizes above the men’s number. Rogue’s chart for the Do-Win, for example, maps a men’s 4.5 to a women’s 6 and a men’s 6.5 to a women’s 8. RunRepeat notes the gap is one to 1.5 sizes depending on the brand, so check each chart rather than doing the math once.

Then check the smallest size. Many unisex lifters start at men’s 4.5, which is about a women’s 6. If you wear a women’s 5 or smaller, your realistic options shrink fast. Inov-8’s women’s G 380 is one of the few that goes down to a women’s 5.

Finally, the fit test. Your heel shouldn’t lift when you rise onto your toes, and your foot shouldn’t slide forward when you squat. Your toes should still be able to spread. RunRepeat’s rule of thumb is a good one: if your big toe or pinky presses against the side of the shoe, the toe box is too narrow. If you’ve got a narrow heel, lean on the strap. It does a lot to stop heel slip.

Best overall

Nike Romaleos 4

  • Heel height20–20.5 mm
  • Weight~19–20 oz (US 10.5)
  • ClosureLaces + 2 straps
  • FitWide flat outsole, but a snug toe box; many owners size up half
  • Best forOlympic lifts, heavy squats

The Romaleos 4 tops most women’s lists for the same reason it tops men’s lists: stability. It’s RunRepeat’s top women’s pick, and their lab called it the most incompressible lifter they’ve tested.

Sizing needs care. RunRepeat’s review calls it true to size, but in their owner poll (154 votes) most people said it runs half a size small, and the toe box is snug. It’s also heavy at around 20 oz, which you’ll notice more on a small foot. Narrow ankles may get a little heel slip, so lock the straps down. Our Romaleos 4 review goes deeper on fit.

Pros

  • Excellent stability
  • Two straps

Cons

  • Snug toe box
  • Heavy on small feet
  • Premium price

Best for narrow feet

Inov-8 Fastlift Power G 380

  • Heel height22 mm (0.87")
  • Weight380 g
  • ClosureLaces + strap
  • FitNarrow to neutral
  • Best forNarrow feet, women

Inov-8 is one of the few brands that sells a women’s-specific version of its lifter, and Rogue’s women’s listing runs from a women’s 5 to 11.5. The G 380 pairs a narrow-to-neutral fit with a tall 22 mm heel, and at roughly 380 g it’s much lighter than the Romaleos. ThatFitFriend’s reviewer singles it out for narrow and neutral feet and for women. Wide feet will feel squeezed, and one retailer’s testers suggest half a size up.

Pros

  • Women’s version in small sizes
  • Light for a 22 mm lifter
  • Snug, secure fit

Cons

  • Tight for wide feet
  • Tall heel is a lot for low-bar squats

Best for wide feet

TYR L-2 Lifter

  • Heel height21 mm (0.83")
  • ClosureLaces + 2 straps
  • FitWide toe box; reviewers often size up half to a full size
  • Best forWide feet, Olympic lifts

Wide feet are just as common in women as in men, and most lifters don’t account for them. The TYR L-2 is built around a wide toe box with a 21 mm heel and two straps, and TYR sells it in women’s sizing. Reviewers often size up half to a full size, so read the size notes before you order. It replaces the older L-1, which Rogue is clearing out.

Pros

  • Wide toe box
  • Two straps
  • Women’s sizing available

Cons

  • Sizing runs small
  • Stiff at first

Best value

Adidas Powerlift 5

  • Heel height15–16 mm
  • Weight~14.4–15 oz (US 10; ThatFitFriend, RunRepeat lab)
  • ClosureLaces + 1 strap
  • FitNarrow toe box (RunRepeat 89.2 mm) and runs short; many owners size up half
  • Best forBeginners, powerlifting

If you mostly squat and bench, the Powerlift 5 gives you a stiff 15 mm heel for a lot less money. RunRepeat measured it at 15 oz and gave the platform top marks for stiffness. It runs narrow and short, so many lifters go up half a size. See the Powerlift 5 review for more on sizing.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Stiff, stable platform

Cons

  • Narrow toe box
  • Runs short

Best for mixed training

Nike Savaleos

  • Heel height15–15.5 mm
  • Weight~14.8 oz / 420 g (RunRepeat lab)
  • ClosureLaces + 1 strap
  • FitVery wide platform; sources split on the toe box (BarBend: roomy; RunRepeat gel mold: narrow, 89.4 mm). Runs about half a size small
  • Best forBeginners, budget

The Savaleos makes sense if your lifting sits inside a broader gym routine. It’s light, the forefoot flexes, and the 15 mm heel is easy to adapt to. Its platform is far softer than a true lifter, so it’s not the pick for heavy cleans. Fit reports conflict: BarBend calls the toe box roomy, while RunRepeat measured it narrow and says it runs about half a size small. Try it on if you can.

Pros

  • Light and flexible
  • Easy heel height

Cons

  • Soft platform
  • Runs small

Which heel height should women choose?

Heel height has nothing to do with being a woman and everything to do with your squat and your legs. RunRepeat’s guide suggests lower heels for beginners and for shorter-legged or narrow-stance lifters, and taller heels for long legs, wide stances and more advanced lifters. I’d simplify it: 15 mm if you’re new or mostly squat for general strength, 20 to 22 mm if you do the Olympic lifts or deep high-bar and front squats. Our squat shoe guide matches heel height to squat style.

Who should skip these

If you wear a women’s 5.5 or smaller, skip the Do-Win Classic Lifter. Rogue sells it in men’s sizing starting at a men’s 4.5, which is about a women’s 6. Skip the Romaleos if your forefoot is wide, and skip the G 380 for the same reason. And if your training is mostly classes with running and jumping, a flat cross-trainer will serve you better than any lifter. For a deeper look at every option, see our full comparison of weightlifting shoes.

Our verdict

Start with the fit, then the heel.

Narrow feet: Inov-8 Fastlift Power G 380. Wide feet: TYR L-2. On a budget: Adidas Powerlift 5. Want the most stable shoe money can buy and your forefoot isn’t wide: Romaleos 4.

FAQ

Are women's weightlifting shoes different from men's?

Mostly no. Many lifters are one unisex shoe sold in men’s sizes. A few brands, like Inov-8, make women’s-specific versions, so check the size chart either way.

How do I convert my size for unisex lifting shoes?

Usually subtract 1.5 from your women’s size to get the men’s size, but use the brand’s chart. Rogue’s Do-Win chart maps a women’s 8 to a men’s 6.5.

What heel height is best for women?

The same as for anyone: about 15 mm for beginners and general training, 20 to 22 mm for Olympic lifting and deep front or high-bar squats.

Should I size up in lifting shoes?

Only for specific models. Lifters should fit snug, but owners say the Romaleos 4, Savaleos and Powerlift 5 run a little small, so half a size up is common for those.

Do women's lifting shoes come in small sizes?

Some do. Inov-8’s women’s G 380 starts at a women’s 5. Many unisex lifters start at a men’s 4.5, roughly a women’s 6.
